6. How do I stay committed to my values, even during the difficult times?
The valued journey has many barriers, but we can decide to keep going.
Sometimes the journey is pleasant and enjoyable.

Sometimes the journey has unpleasant aspects, and we have to decide whether or not to keep going, or to seek shelter.

Sometimes the journey has barriers.

We will sometimes get stuck and make no progress. All we can do is pull ourselves out of the hole.

Sometimes we will choose to stop doing what we value. This is to be expected.

But even when we stopped traveling, we can still start again. We can recommit to the things that are important to us.

Facing the challenge of cancer can seem like a never ending uphill battle. You might sometimes wonder if you have the strength and stamina for the task.

The question is, "Are you willing to face the challenge, accepting what can not be changed, and committing to living well?"
The following exercises will help to pull everything together for you

Finally, here is a mindfulness exercise.
We suggest you practice this every day at a time you find most suitable. Find a quiet place, free from distraction so that you can experience the full benefit of mindfulness. There is no right or wrong way to be mindful. Watch out for evaluations “I am not doing this right”. My mind keeps wandering”, What if I fall asleep?”. Just notice these evaluations and continue to practice daily. Regular mindfulness will help you to become aware of your thoughts and feelings. It will help you contact your observer self. And most importantly, it will help you to more mindfully choose the direction you want your life to take.
